What we collect

We only collect what we need for the part of the site you use.

  • Account: your email address, preferred language, your confirmation that you are 18 or over, and the consent choices you make (for example, whether you want reminder emails).
  • Google sign-in: if you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID with us. We never see your Google password and we don't ask for access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or anything else in your Google account.
  • Your plan: the answers you give in the course finder and assessment (such as your education background, grades, English test scores, budget, preferred cities and study goals), courses you save, and documents you choose to upload.
  • Contact details you give when asking for help, such as a phone number, WeChat ID, your name and your message.
  • Insurance orders: when you buy Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) through us, the details the insurer needs, such as your full name, date of birth, gender, nationality, passport number, email, Australian address if you have one, and cover dates.
  • Student board: posts, comments and images you publish, reports you make, and the enrolment details we check to verify you as a student.
  • Technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and page-loading performance, collected by our hosting provider and used to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it

  • To create your account, log you in and keep you logged in.
  • To run the tools you use, such as matching courses to your background and saving your plan.
  • To reply to your questions and, when you ask us to, provide consulting and application services, including preparing and submitting applications to education providers on your behalf.
  • To arrange student health insurance quotes and policies you request.
  • To send emails you need, such as login codes, order updates and replies to your messages.
  • To send reminders and new guides, only if you opted in. You can turn these off at any time.
  • To keep the site and student board safe, prevent abuse and fix problems.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it to build advertising profiles.

Information from Google

If you sign in with Google, we request only the basic scopes (openid, email and profile). We use your Google name, email address and profile picture only to create your account, sign you in and show which account you are signed in with.

We don't use Google user data for advertising, we don't sell it, we don't use it to train AI or machine learning models, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers listed below that we need to run your account. Our staff don't read it unless you ask us to for support, it is needed for security, or the law requires it.

Auland's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can remove Auland's access at any time in your Google Account under Security, "Your connections to third-party apps & services". When your account is deleted, we also delete the information we received from Google.

Who we share it with

By default, only you can see your plan. We share personal information only in these cases:

  • Service providers that run the site for us: Supabase (database, login and file storage), Vercel (website hosting and performance measurement), Resend (sending emails) and Google (sign-in, if you choose it).
  • Insurers and their licensed distribution partner, when you ask us to arrange an OSHC policy. They handle your payment and the policy itself.
  • Universities and other education providers, only when you ask us to apply or contact them for you.
  • An adviser you choose to share your plan with, limited to what you agree to share. You can withdraw this at any time.
  • When the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

Our service providers store and process information outside mainland China, including in Australia and the United States. By using the site, you understand that your information is transferred to them for the purposes in this policy. We only use providers that protect information to a standard comparable with Chinese and Australian privacy law.

Storage, security and retention

Your account and plan data are stored with Supabase. Information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and database access rules mean each user can only read their own records.

We keep your information while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (for example insurance and financial records, which may be kept for up to 7 years).

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you logged in and remember your language. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your choices and rights

  • See, correct or export the information we hold about you.
  • Delete your account and your information.
  • Withdraw consent for reminder emails or for sharing with an adviser.
  • Ask us how your information has been used.

You can turn reminder emails on or off on your account page. For everything else, including deleting your account, email us at [email protected]. We reply within 30 days.

Age

Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to create the account and use the site with you.

Complaints

If you are worried about how we've handled your information, email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you live in Australia and aren't satisfied with our answer, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

When we update this policy we change the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we will tell you by email or on the site before it applies.
